World Poker Tour Season 6: The WPT Spanish Championship 2007

Held at the beautiful country of Spain, the WPT Spanish Championship poker tournament in 2007 took place at the wonderful Casino Barcelona. From October 11 to 16, 2007, the city of Barcelona become of the center of the entire poker world with this very exciting and highly classified World Poker Tour event. For six long and extremely fun days, the various participants engage in excellent poker competition for a chance to earn a world poker title together with huge pot money.

During the final table match of the WPT Spanish Championship, which was held on the 16th of October, six vibrant and highly enthusiastic players fought it off for the right to be called world poker champion. After the elimination rounds, the participants end up with the highest chip total in the entire tournament, setting up for another dramatic finish ever recorded in the international poker scene.

Before the final match of the Spanish poker tournament ensued, game critics closely watched at the seating positions and starting chips of the players, which are two of the most highly influential factors in the game. Through these two crucial factors, the outcome of poker games and matches can change significantly in an instant, making them worth considering in every time that the game is being played.

Garnering a total of 176,000 chips, the very first seat of the final table was taken by Vladimir Poleschchuk. Seated next to him, Christer Johansson bagged the second seat with 855,000 chips at hand. After earning a grand total of 670,000 chips, Steve Sung earned the rights to own the third seat of the final table. Meanwhile, Gus Hansen who has a tournament-high 962,000 chips after the elimination round joins the pack by occupying the fourth seat. Ludovic Lacay with 400,000 chips and Markus Lehmann with 329,000 chips, occupy the fifth and final seats of the WPT Spanish Championship.

As each move becomes so critical, the tension at the WPT Spanish Championship rises in dramatic fashion. Despite some precaution and finesse in the way he played the game, Poleschchuk found it so hard to survive the early rounds of the final table. With Poleschshuk gone and four more outstanding poker players to compete with, Hansen became the second overall to exit the final match. Moreover, the action starts to pick up much faster than expected, with Sung exiting third overall in the game.

As the WPT Spanish Championship tournament comes close to its end, the three remaining participants fought valiantly to stay in contention for the title. While the tension mounts to a much higher level, Johansson eventually gave in next, exiting the game fourth overall. With Lacay and Lehmann battling it out for the kill, the two equally talented poker players showed everything they got. However, Lehmann's late-game heroics prove too much for Lacay as he clinched another major victory.
